The care of wet-nurses and the role of blacks in the history of Nursing: a fight for fairness

This study is aimed at systematizing the references related to the care of wet-nurses, racism and the legacy left by black nursing icons. A descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out from an integrative research. Data collection happened in the months of August and September 2014. The technique used in the research in order to obtaining the data was through a bibliographical survey by
the SciELO databases, Google Scholar and EBSCO-HOST, which provided access to periodicals and scientific articles from the descriptors: black mothers, wet-nurses, Black people in nursing and racism, published in Portuguese, with timeless clipping. We must appreciate the various social actors who were and are building the knowledge about nursing care, though the emancipation of thought as a way of questioning the world, fighting against prejudices, injustices and iniquities.
