About the Journal
História da Enfermagem: Revista Eletrônica (HERE), ISSN 2176-7475, is a continuous publication of the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn Nacional). Its mission is to disseminate knowledge in Nursing History, Care, Health, and Education through the publication of articles that contribute to the expansion of theoretical and methodological frameworks, historical records, historical research sources, and that provide dialogue between researchers and those interested in the thematic scope of the journal.
Created in 2009 by ABEn Nacional at the Permanent Forum of Nursing History Researchers, HERE is currently linked to the Publications Directorate of ABEn Nacional and to the Nursing History Department of ABEn. It started with semi-annual periodicity in electronic version and open access.
It accepts manuscripts in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Since 2024, it has been published in two languages, one of them necessarily being English.
It follows the guidelines of the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the guidelines provided in resolutions and other normative acts of the National Research Ethics Commission (CONEP) for research involving human participants in Brazil. If the research involves humans in other countries, it follows the guidelines provided in the Declaration of Helsinki. It also supports the initiatives of the EQUATOR Network aimed at improving the construction of research reports.
HERE publishes works that address themes related to the history of health and nursing, culture, philosophy of health and nursing education from a historical perspective, in various theoretical and methodological approaches that deal with care practices and knowledge production in its various dimensions. It also disseminates studies in the area of historical preservation and management of cultural heritage in health and nursing.
It publishes original articles, literature reviews, biographies, historiographical debates, sources and historical documents, experience reports, in memoriam pieces, and book reviews of historical interest.
HERE adopts the open access model with a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, thus allowing anyone to read or download, copy, and disseminate its content for educational purposes.
The abbreviation of its title is Hist Enferm Rev Eletr, which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, captions, and references.
