The Castelo Caps In The Process Of Structuration Of The Psychiatric Reform In Pelotas (1987-2002)

It aims to relate the trajectory of psychiatric reform, in Pelotas in the period from 1987 to 2002. The temporal cutting related to changes in the assistance field, arising from political transformations, which initiated from the National Conferences on Mental Health and promulgation of Ministerial Ordinances 189/91 and 224/92. This is a qualitative research that used the technique of hybrid oral history. It were conducted interviews, using the technique of liberty, field observation and analysis of written records (minutes of assemblies and team meetings and the two institutional therapeutics projects constructed in the period). It were interviewed 10 individuals, including professionals, managers, users and family. The data analysis occurred from the themes: the beginning of history; the social relations constructed by the Castelo; the rehabilitation strategies in the Castelo; and the institutionalization of the Psychiatric Reform in Pelotas. We hope with this work to demonstrate the present reality in Pelotas, which is resulted of much struggle, dedication and commitment of professionals, users and user’s families.
