The creation of Nursing Journal of Minas Gerais (REME) occurred in the 1990´s, within the scope of the Nursing Development Program (PRODEN) based at the Nursing School of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (EEUFMG). This program was run by the late Dr. Roseni Rosângela de Sena, emeritus teacher at EEUFMG and consultant at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. The document presented is the editorial´s REME creation. Written by Roseni Sena, it announced the good news and the satisfaction of its creators with this initiative. REME’s first issue is turning 22 (v1. N1: December 1997). There were several modifications and restructurings during this period with the objective of making Nursing knowledge visible, growing and exchanging. Keeping this premise, this important vehicle of Minas Gerais and Brazilian Nursing offers a modern interface, dialoguing with the main social media and adjusted to the demands “Open Science”, ORCID record for identification of authors and indication of contributions. REME is Qualis CAPES B1 in Nursing and maintains a strong desire to interface with new technologies, allowing an increasingly open and close dialogue with your target audience.
